Glacier National Park (Day 1)

June 17, Saturday, MST

We were up and had a bit of a leisurely morning, and then packed water bottles and water packs, and then headed up to Glacier National Park.

It was a beautiful drive up, and naturally we stopped at the Apgar Visitor Center (which was only 32 minutes from the RV park).  We got a map, and found that part of the Going To The Sun Road was still closed to autos.  It was open to bikes and hiking.  That sounded like fun for tomorrow.

But for today we were just going to hike.  Avalanche Trail.  Parking was pretty crowded, but we finally found a spot.  We did about a 5 miles round trip.  It was a beautiful hike.

And we saw a deer in the path.

Back to the truck to eat lunch, and then head back down to the RV park.

We saw no bears today (much to my wife’s chagrin).  We will be coming back into the park tomorrow, so I think we’ll be bringing our bikes then.

The girls were beat, so we had dinner and then off to bed.
